This recording was released in 1998 and features clarinetist Ken Peplowski, trombonist Dan Barrett and cornetist Warren Vache. Marshall Wood is on bass and Jim Gwin is on drums. It was a very easy session to do. Dan and Ken came up to Boston from New York City and we recorded all of their takes in several hours. On another day, Warren came up from New Jersey. They are all excellent, top notch professionals and played the music with ease.

I chose Dan, Ken and Warren for their musicianship and strong sense of melody. They brought a very high level of musicality to the proceedings and the session was over before I knew it. Marshall and Jim are a great pair to have on a session and are very much in demand in Boston as one of the top rhythm sections.

As the title states, the selections are from The Great American Songbook and are all well known standards. I’m a big fan of the songs from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s and continue to learn more and more great songs from that Golden Age of music.
